Lessons
Are you looking to learn piano, music theory, and aural skills?
Ms. Sarraf has taught the piano for over 40 years, and has extensive experience teaching piano, music theory, and aural skills. Her teaching philosophy includes incorporating piano performance, written theory, and aural studies to ensure a well-rounded musical education. Ms. Sarraf integrates all of these studies into each lesson. She welcomes students of all ages and levels. Additionally, Ms. Sarraf is a tutor for Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory high school studies, providing additional teaching and tips to prepare for the notoriously difficult aural and written exam.
Ms. Sarraf is an active member and Board Member of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). She has participated as President of Orange Coast Cities Branch. Through MTAC, her students participate in the Certificate of Merit® program. The program provides a standard of curriculum that requires students to strive for focused musical excellence in performance, technique, ear training, sight reading/singing, and music theory.
Lessons range from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. At the student’s initial lesson, Ms. Sarraf and the student will together decide what length of lessons will be suitable for the student. During this initial lesson, Ms. Sarraf will answer any questions the student may have, as well as determine the teaching and lesson plans for the student’s musical studies.
Playing music is a great form of self expression. Learning to play an instrument has many other benefits, such as in improvements in cognitive brain functioning, memory, and focus, that can be applied to so many other areas of one's life. In children, actively engaging in music has proven to change their brains for the better.
